鶴は、日本のアートや文化にとって特別な存在です

墨絵や水墨画に描かれたり、『万葉集』のような古い詩に詠まれたり、能や尺八の曲の主要なテーマになったり……鶴は昔から日本人の「美」の感覚と深く結びついてきました。

 とはいえ、実際の暮らしの中で鶴を見かけることはあまりありません。今や丹頂鶴が生息しているのは北海道だけ。でも、それでもなお、鶴は「日本らしさ」を象徴するアートアイコンとして、多くの人の心に残り続けています。

長寿や吉祥のしるしとして、武家の家紋に多く使われてきたこともその一例でしょう。

なかでも、二羽の鶴が向かい合ってダンスするような姿は、たくさんの文様として残されています。

 そんな鶴たちの微笑ましい姿を、ポップでカラフルなテイストで再解釈してみました。伝統と遊び心が出会う、新しい「鶴のかたち」です。

Cranes hold a special place in Japanese art and culture

They have been depicted in ink paintings and sumi-e, sung about in ancient poems such as the Manyoshu, and featured as a major theme in Noh plays and shakuhachi music. Cranes have long been deeply connected to the Japanese sense of beauty.

However, it is rare to see cranes in everyday life. Nowadays, red-crowned cranes only inhabit Hokkaido. Nevertheless, cranes continue to remain in people's hearts as an artistic icon symbolizing “Japanese-ness.”  

One example is their frequent use as family crests by samurai families, symbolizing longevity and good fortune.  

Among these, the image of two cranes facing each other in a dance-like pose has been preserved in numerous patterns.

We have reinterpreted the charming appearance of these cranes in a pop and colorful style. This is a new “form of the crane” where tradition and playfulness meet.
